Meaning of Memory cards
Memory card is a unique kind of storage medium which is capable of storing information or data mostly in the form of files. The usage of memory cards has slowly replaced the usage of floppy disks and compact disks (CDs). These memory cards are known as flash memory cards.

2. Multimedia Cards
Most of this type of multimedia cards are used in devices like PDAs, digital cameras and mobile phones.
3. Memory Stick
It is another type of memory card which has the ability to have more storage. This format of memory was initially designed by Sony Company. This type of memory cards are exclusively used for Sony devices.
4. Compact Flash memory cards
It is a standard format of memory cards exclusively manufactured for digital cameras.
5. XD Picture cards
This type of memory cards can be used to store image files without spoiling the quality.
6. Smart Media
This is an older format of memory card. Most people do not like this type of memory card as it is big in size than other types of memory cards.

Some memory cards have been designed in such a way to use in more than one device. That is the users can use those memory cards for their PDAs as well as their mobile phones or laptops. Therefore you can save the same data in distinct devices for secure storage.
